What it may doas far as you allow, and no further.
Every agent has limits you set on one screen, "What it may do": how far it may go in each area of the space, which things it may touch, and which actions must ask you first. When it needs more, it asks in its chat with a card.
An agent can only do what you give it. You set this on one screen, What it may do, opened from the agent's page or from the New agent window. For each area of the space (contacts, email, tables, pages, the shop, finance and the rest) you choose how far it may go, you can set particular things apart, and you pick the actions it must ask you about first. When it needs something it does not have, it asks you in its chat.
This is for space owners and admins. Setting permissions is free; a spending cap is set separately (see Costs and limits).
How it works
Areas and levels
Each area is a row with a ladder of levels, from Hidden (it cannot see that area at all) up to the area's top. Each step includes the ones below it. A few examples:
| Area | Levels |
|---|---|
| Tables | Read · Edit (change what rows say) · Fill (add and remove rows) · Change (columns, views, settings, sharing, delete) |
| Pages | Read · Content (swap a picture, pin a product, never the layout) · Edit (rewrite the page) · Publish (publish, delete, move it) |
| Documents | Read · Comment · Edit · Change (share, move, delete) |
| Forms | Read · Fill in · Edit the questions · Change (publish, delete) |
| Read · Reply (answer someone who wrote in) · Send new · Campaigns |
The areas are grouped as People & messages, Work, Build, Shop & money, and The space. A last group, Off until you turn them on, holds powers no agent gets by default, such as deleting apps or rewriting its own instructions.
Except: one thing at a time
Under a row, Except lets you set particular things apart. For example: Tables at Fill, except the "Payroll" table, which is Hidden, and the "Leads" table, which is Read only. If the whole area is Hidden, the same place reads Only these tables and lists the ones it may use.
This list of things is what the agent's page calls Can use. It is set per space: if the agent works in several spaces, the screen has a tab for each, with its home marked. Anything the agent makes itself it may always work on.
Asks you first
Under Asks you first before, tick the actions that must wait for your yes, such as:
- Publish a page live, or publish an app
- Post to social accounts
- Send an email, or launch an email campaign
- Send an SMS, or run an SMS campaign
- Create or change ads
- Change listings and orders
- Run a paid service, or generate images, video or voice
- Make an agent
When it reaches one of these, a card appears in its chat with Approve and Reject. Waiting cards also gather in Waiting on you, just above the box where you type.
Some things always ask
A few actions ask every time whatever you set, such as opening a commerce account, opening a community, sharing a document with someone, or erasing a contact.
When it needs more
If an agent needs a power it does not have, it does not guess and it does not send you to a settings page. It asks in its own chat with a card that says, in plain words, what it would be able to do from now on. You answer with:
- Allow: it keeps that power from now on.
- Just this once: it may do it for the next hour.
- No: it does not get it.
Only someone who could do that thing themselves in the space may allow it. The owner and admins can allow anything; a member can allow only what their own permissions cover. Everyone else sees "Waiting for someone who can allow this."
It works the same way for accounts: when it needs your Google calendar or an Instagram account, it shows a card you press to connect, and when it needs an API key it shows a card with a box for it. Paste keys only into that card, never into the chat.

Agents
An agent is an AI teammate that belongs to one of your spaces, has its own name, face and chat, and does real work with the space's tools. Its thinking is paid from that space's wallet; agents on Wakato's cloud need the Pro or Business plan.
Memory
Every agent keeps its own memory: an About itself block it reads every turn, notes it writes as it works, and lessons Wakato picks up from its chats once they go quiet. You can read, edit, undo and refuse anything it remembers; the small AI cost of learning is paid from its home space's wallet.
